Common RAL colours for pre-painted steel

Standard: RAL Classic colour collection

Pre-painted coil is ordered by colour against a reference system, most often the RAL Classic collection: a four-digit number whose first digit gives the colour family (1 yellow, 2 orange, 3 red, 5 blue, 6 green, 7 grey, 8 brown, 9 white and black). The colours below are among those mills and service centres commonly keep for roofing and cladding; any RAL colour can be made to order, usually with a minimum quantity per colour.

Colour on a screen or a printed card is only an approximation — approve a physical panel from the actual paint batch, and keep it for checking deliveries.

Notes

Light colours keep roofs and walls cooler in the Gulf sun; dark colours absorb far more solar heat, which raises the panel temperature and the thermal movement of long sheets.
