Zinc coating mass designations (EN 10346, ASTM A653, JIS G3302)

Standard: EN 10346 · ASTM A653/A653M · JIS G3302 formerly EN 10142, EN 10147, EN 10326, EN 10327

The coating designation states the minimum total mass of zinc on both sides together. In EN 10346 and JIS G3302 it is in g/m²; in ASTM A653 the G number is the minimum in hundredths of an ounce per square foot (G90 = 0.90 oz/ft² ≈ 275 g/m²). The triple-spot value is the average of three samples across the width; the single-spot value is the lowest any one sample may show.

Thickness per side is approximate, calculated from the mass at 7.14 g/m² per µm. It assumes an even coating; real coatings vary from side to side and across the strip.
