Coke (metallurgical) · Size & tolerance table

Metallurgical coke quality parameters and test methods

Standard: ISO 18894 · ISO 556 · ISO 728 · ASTM D5341 · ASTM D3402

The values below are typical ranges seen in contracts and plant specifications, not limits from a standard. Each blast furnace sets its own targets, and premium furnaces with high coal injection need coke at the strong end of every range.

Chemistry is given on a dry basis. Strength indices depend on the test method, so a contract should name it — an M40 by ISO 556 and a stability index by ASTM D3402 are different numbers.
