Linde doubles gas supply capacity to Tata Steel in Odisha
Linde has doubled its industrial gas supply capacity for Tata Steel at the Kalinganagar Industrial Complex in Odisha, India, supporting the steelmaker’s plan to increase annual production capacity from 3 mln tons to 8 mln tons.
Under a long-term supply agreement, Linde has reactivated two air separation units (ASUs) at the complex. The units are now supplying oxygen, nitrogen and argon for Tata Steel’s iron and steelmaking operations.
The expansion brings Linde’s total oxygen production capacity in the Kalinganagar region to more than 7,000 tons per day. The additional capacity will also enable Linde to meet growing demand for industrial gases in the regional merchant market.
Tata Steel is among the world's leading steel producers, with annual crude steel capacity of around 35 mln tons.
