HRC imports fall 6.5pct YoY in Jan-Aug despite August surge

Turkey’s HRC imports declined by 6.5pct YoY to 2.4 mln tons in January-August 2026, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), despite a sharp increase in August.

China became Turkey’s largest HRC supplier during the eight-month period, shipping 574,400 tons, followed by Russia with 509,200 tons and Malaysia with 468,900 tons.

In August, HRC imports surged by 42pct YoY and 67.5pct MoM to around 413,600 tons.
