Welded stainless tube for handrails, balustrades, furniture, frames and general mechanical use is sold by outside diameter and wall thickness. Most of the sizes here are the inch diameters common in ASTM A554 ornamental tube (1/2 in = 12.7 mm, 1 in = 25.4 mm, 2 in = 50.8 mm), with 42.4, 60.3 and 114.3 mm from the metric pipe series.

Masses are calculated for austenitic stainless steel (304, 316) at 7.93 kg/dm³: (OD − t) × t × 0.02491. Use the steel weight calculator for other sizes.

Notes

Empty cells are combinations that are rarely made (very thin walls on large diameters, or walls thicker than about one seventh of the diameter).
Tube is usually supplied in 6 m lengths; polished tube is sleeved in plastic film.
