Xuan Thien invests in new bar and wire production line
Vietnam's Xuan Thien Group has signed a contract with Italian steel technology supplier Danieli for the supply of a new steel bar and wire production line with an annual capacity of 2.5 mln tons.
The project will use electric arc furnace (EAF) steelmaking technology combined with Danieli's Endless MIDA continuous casting and rolling process. The technology allows billets to be directly rolled using their retained heat, reducing the need for reheating and improving production efficiency.
According to Xuan Thien, the new line is expected to improve production efficiency by around 2-3pct and reduce electricity consumption by approximately 30 kWh per ton of finished steel.
The facility will produce high-strength construction steel, including earthquake-resistant and high-ductility grades, as well as selected steel products for the mechanical engineering sector.
The new production line is scheduled to start operations and produce its first steel in the first quarter of 2028, three months ahead of the timeline outlined in the original investment plan.
