TMK boosts anti-corrosion pipe coating capacity at Chelyabinsk plant
Russia’s TMK has increased the productivity of its anti-corrosion pipe coating operations at its TMK Pipeline Solutions facility in Chelyabinsk following the commissioning of a new preheating and drying unit.
The equipment, installed in Electric Welding Shop No. 6, prepares pipe surfaces for protective coating by removing moisture and heating the outer surface. Its design also reduces heat loss and gas consumption.
The upgrade has increased the productivity of the coating section to 500 sq m per hour and expanded its capabilities to include welded pipes up to 1,220 mm in diameter and seamless pipes starting from 114 mm.
TMK said the new unit would improve coating quality and allow orders to be reallocated more efficiently between production sites.
Earlier in 2026, TMK in Chelyabinsk introduced weather-resistant coating technology for large-diameter pipes, providing protection against temperature fluctuations, ultraviolet radiation, moisture and certain aggressive environment.
TMK is Russia’s largest steel pipe manufacturer, supplying tubular products and solutions to the oil and gas, energy, chemical and construction industries. Founded in 2001 and headquartered in Moscow, the company operates major production facilities across Russia, with an annual pipe-making capacity of approximately 4.8-5 mln tons.Published 21 October 2026.
