EBITDA rose by 61.2pct YoY to INR 45.61 bln (USD 480 mln) in the given period.

For the first half of FY 2026-27, SAIL's profit after tax climbed by 206.7pct YoY to INR 34.1 bln (USD 359 mln), while revenue from operations increased by 10.7pct to INR 582.43 bln (USD 6.13 bln). EBITDA rose by 55pct to INR 89.17 bln (USD 938 mln).

Crude steel production edged up by 1.2pct YoY to 9.61 mln tons in April-September, while sales volume declined by 1.4pct to 9.33 mln tons.

SAIL said its Q2 performance was supported by an 8.2pct quarter-on-quarter increase in finished and saleable steel, alongside higher iron ore production and sales. The company is focusing on cost optimization, inventory reduction and increasing the share of high-end products to improve profitability and strengthen its balance sheet.

SAIL currently produces around 20.6 mln tons of crude steel annually and is targeting expansion to 35 mln tons per year by FY2031. The company operates five integrated steel plants and three special steel plants across India, producing flat, long, special and railway steel products.
