Nucor to invest USD 60 mln in Alabama steel structures facility

US steelmaker Nucor will invest USD 60 mln to expand its Towers & Structures facility in Trinity, Alabama, increasing production capacity for steel poles and other structures used in utility infrastructure.

The expansion will include additional production capacity, laydown space and a dedicated galvanizing inspection area.

The facility began operations in September 2025 and is located next to Nucor Steel Decatur, allowing the company to combine locally produced steel with downstream manufacturing to serve growing demand from utility customers.

Nucor established its Towers & Structures business in 2022 through the acquisition of Summit Utility Structures. It has since opened facilities in Alabama and Indiana and is building a fourth facility in Utah, expected to begin operations in 2027.

Nucor is a major North American steel producer with operations across the United States, Canada and Mexico, manufacturing carbon and alloy steel in bars, beams, sheet and plate, along with a wide range of downstream steel products. Its portfolio includes structural products, steel joists and decking, rebar, wire and mesh, steel grating, metal building systems and insulated panels. Through its affiliates, Nucor also processes and brokers ferrous and non-ferrous metals and is North America's largest recycler.
