Alleima receives first order for next-generation nuclear reactor tubing
Swedish specialty steel producer Alleima has received its first order for steam generator tubing for a next-generation small modular nuclear reactor (SMR).
The company will manufacture and supply the tubing to South Korea's Doosan Enerbility for use in X-energy's Xe-100 advanced reactor program in the United States.
The tubing will be used in X-energy's proposed first Xe-100 deployment, a four-unit plant at an industrial facility in Texas supported by the U.S. Department of Energy's Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program.
The Xe-100 is a high-temperature, helium-cooled reactor designed to generate carbon-free electricity and high-temperature steam for industrial applications. The order follows a strategic framework agreed between Alleima, Doosan and X-energy.
The project also supports Alleima's expansion in the nuclear energy sector. In June 2026, the company inaugurated its Tube Mill 2026 facility in Sandviken, Sweden, to increase production capacity for nuclear applications, including conventional reactors and SMRs.
Alleima AB is a Sweden-based global manufacturer of advanced stainless steels, special alloys and high-performance industrial materials, headquartered in Sandviken. Formerly part of Sandvik, the company was listed on Nasdaq Stockholm in 2022. Its products include seamless steel tubes for the energy, chemical and nuclear industries, precision strip steel, industrial heating solutions and ultra-fine wires for medical and electronic applications.
