SONASID HISTORY

1974 - Creation by the Government - to develop a national steel industry
1984 - Nador Wire Rod Mill (600 000 T) – Start up in March
1996 - Privatization : 37% sold in the Casablanca stock exchange
1998 - SONASID acquires LONGOMETAL INDUSTRIES a 150 kT re-rolling mill
2002 - Start-up of JORF LASFAR Bar Mill (350 kT)
2005 - August: start-up of Jorf Lasfar Melting Shop ( 625 kT extendable to 1 mT)

- Products: Rebar & wire rod in coils from 5,5 to 16mm

Jorf Lasfar Rolling Mill
- Start-up production in mid 2002
- Bar rolling mill
- Capacity : 350 KT
- Designed by DANIELLI (ITALY)
- Products: Rebar from 10 to 40 mm and Merchant bar < 60mm

Investments In Electric Arc Furnace

Jorf Lasfar EAF steelworks plant
- A 125 M$USD investment
- First production started in August 2005
- Capacity : 625 000 T up to 1 mT
- Scrap consumption : 800 KT
- Designed by DANIELLI (ITALY) and Reminex Morocco
- Products : Billets 140x140 mm
