Consolidated, Lebanon's last rolling mill closed
operations end June.
High costs of electricity, fuel, labor and imported billets, made
Consolidated unable to compete with imports. Leman Commodities, major
supplier of Ukrainian steel products withdrew it's tolling agreement, by
which this mill used to convert billets in rebars, and merchant bars.
Negotiations are taking place by the owners, the Abizaid family, to sell the
300.000t rolling mill
Turkey: Erdemir has inaugurated a new service centre at Gebze in the
north-west of Anatolia. The centre has a capacity of 150,000 t/y – for
cutting and slitting cold rolled..
