Maghreb Steel installs new Galvanising line
Morocco’s Maghreb Steel is installing a new galvanising line at its coastal
works in Tit Mellil, Casablanca, confirms a senior executive at the company.
Its capacity is 130,000 t/y and commissioning is expected in April 2003.
Construction has already started with France’s Stein Heurtey responsible for
the work.
The company is also revamping its 85,000 t/y combined painting and
galvanising line, which will increase the capacity of the painting section.
In May last year, Maghreb Steel commissioned its 200,000t/y cold rolling and
pickling lines, also supplied by Stein Heurtey. The company imports HR coil
from Europe or CIS, or from wherever it can be supplied at low cost.
The various investments are self-financed, the company says. Excess coated
production will be exported to Africa and Europe.
