Malta Shipyards gets 2 major repair contract
2003 December 11

Shipyard workers will this week start working on a floating production storage and off loading vessel, which is expected to dock later in the week.

Malta Shipyards Ltd won the contract against fierce competition from other 'yards and having done work on an FPSO two years ago was a determining factor in winning the contract, shipyards chairman John Cassar White said.

The FPSO is expected to spend at least five weeks in the dock, undergoing major maintenance, steel and engineering works.

Another carrier, this time an iron ore and oil carrier, is expected to enter No 6 dock for two to three weeks at the end of December.
