Tender for Gol-e Gohar - new steel plant.

| Gol-e Gohar Iron Ore Company, a subsidiary of
NISCO, is planning to issue a
tender in October for a new steel developments in Kerman province. Local companies should bid in joint venture with large foreign companies for: - a dry tailings hematite recovery plant with capacity of 350 KT/year - a wet tailings hematite recovery plant with capacity of 220KT/year - a desulphurisation unit for iron concentrate with capacity of 460KT/year The consultant is NIPEC, Non-Ferrous Industries Process and Engineering Company. The nearby Gol-e Gohar mining complex has reserves of around 150.000KT. |

Mobarakeh temporary closure of CR line

Mobarakeh will likely temporary close it's CR line in September - October 2003,
to expand it's line to 1200KT/ year. Prices The temporary closure of one or more lines at Mobarakeh is likely to further boost CRC imports, several companies tell Steel Business Briefing. Mobarakeh is understood to be closing certain operations for a month or so, as part of the CR line expansion, say the unconfirmed reports. The expansion is programmed to take its CRC capacity to 1.2million t/y, as previously reported. The closure is expected during September, but could extend into October, it seems. |

Award of new 200 KT tinplate complex in Tabriz

The Italian company Danieli, will participate in the construction of a steel
plant in Tabriz to produce thin tin-plates, it was announced here on Wednesday.
Managing Director of the plant, Ali Chapari, told IRNA that the cooperation
agreement was inked between the two parties on the sidelines of Tabriz
international investment opportunities conference. "A fund of dlrs 200 million
and rls one trillion has been primarily invested in the project, which is
scheduled to be completed in two phases within two years," he added. He said
that once the plant comes on stream, the annual import of 800000 tons of
tin-plate will stop. "The construction of the first phase of the project, with
an annual production capacity of 200KT, will get underway in 20 days," he noted.
He added that the production of tin-plate will be in accordance with the most
modern technology and the technical specifications of the Italian Danielli
Company. Meanwhile, Mobarake has recently started its new 100,000t/y tinning line, installed by Danieli as well. |

EPC contractors to prequalify for South Pars phases 9-10, incl. steel
structures

EPC contractors have been invited to prequalify for construction of the onshore
facilities of phases 9-10 of the South Pars gas scheme, including steel
structures, civil works, piping, etc… A consortium led by South Korea’s LG Engineering & Construction received the 1600 mio US$ project from Pars Oil & Gas Company in September 2002. |

Khouzestan Steel posptones bid for billet transfer line by 4 weeks

Khuzestan Steel extended the bid deadline to 21-6-2003, for the turnkey
installation of a billet transfer line at its iron and steel factory in Ahwaz.
Bids are open to local and local/foreign ventures. |
